Feedback from my MST - Observation 1 & 4 - Semester 8
Description These are my year 4 observation 1 and observation 4 feedback sheets that I received from my MST. These both feedback are used for evaluating me teaching a lesson about teaching letter for grade 1. So, my MST was mentoring the strategies that I implemented in teaching a letter. Grade 1 curriculum has 4 units, all lessons about shapes, colors, numbers, and letters. I chose these 2 examples because teaching letter is the most challenging part of the TP. I was teaching grade 1, and teaching letters mean giving them the basics of the new language, they are ESL students, so, I need to be careful in teaching them about the sound and the pronunciation of the words starting with this particular letter.
Justification I consider these 2 examples are my best practices example, because they show you the progress from my first lesson to the last lesson. And how that teaching for a long time extended the knowledge. As you can see in my observation 1 feedback that my MST select good for me in the point of planning for the lesson and even that I’m applying my action research about giving feedback in grade 4, she wrote a comment that grade 1 also needs feedback and I need to focus on this point more.
My MST challenges me to apply my action plan strategies simply the process of giving feedback to grade 1 students. After she gave the students any exam, she asked me to discuss with grade 1 students about their results because they don’t know what the meaning of this grade. Also, she asked me to give them comments about where they did a great job and where they need development. I think that she has a point of view that we should teach the student but feedback from age. However, I don’t agree with giving grade 1 students feedback on their exams because this can affect them negatively, especially, that they can’t understand that people can make mistakes and they will feel sad, even they will lose 1 mark, so, for caring about their feeling we should avoid this strategy of giving feedback. I faced a situation of 1 student that cried because I discussed with her about her paper as my MST said. I think that she will prefer to read her own paper instead of discussing especially if he is a low-level student.
Feedback from my MCT - Observation 1 - Semester 7
Description I received this feedback from my MCT, on my first observation in semester 7 TP. The lesson was about insects; this lesson includes five stages. I applied a lot of creative activities because this is related to my PDP goal 3 that focus on increasing the application of creative activities during the lessons. And this because creative activities give the students the chance to express their feeling, and employ their negative power that comes from pressure, in something that will reflect positively in their personalities.
I also was planning to use technology to assess in explaining my lesson, especially, that this is my philosophy as a primary teacher. I believe that technology is an essential part of any modern classroom because these generations tend to use their devices all day. So, if the teacher didn't use technology, she will not complete all the lesson demanded because students will not enjoy the lesson. They will not be engaged in the lesson 100%, so, they will attend to misbehaving and interrupting the lesson. But, what I faced in this lesson that the technology device damaged and stop working, so, I gave the lesson without technology.
Justification I consider this lesson as my best practices example from the three lessons that I explained in front of my MCT. I think that this lesson clarifies my ability for planning for learning and my Professionalism. So, even of all the points that I gave about the importance of technology in the classroom, but, I deal with the issue, by applying my plan B.
My plan B is by using cards, white board and marker, pictures and things that I created by myself to use it showing the words (like; ant robot). Students were interacting and following all the rules. Besides, this lesson makes me draw another idea about technology, which is without strong personality, there is no positive effect on students understanding.
However, even that I faced this problem, I deal with the situation, and I got a lot of positive comments that encourage me to improve my teaching abilities. I'm proud because most of the comments that I received about my personality and my strategies as a teacher were positive, and this confirms that, if the teacher was strong, she will deal with any situation.
Feedback from my MCT - Observation 3 - Semester 7
Description I choose this observation sheet because it shows how I developed in few days that showed clearly in the third observation compared to the level of the first observation. I think that this shows a real effective process of developing. My area of development of observation 1, was in the lesson plan that didn't include any details or clear instructions. While, in the feedback of observation three lessons, you can notice the big gap between the comment. I showed a clear progress, and I implement the issue in 10 days only. So, I gave a detailed lesson plan that has clear instructions and clear steps.
Justification I think that showing good progress in few days, clarify that the person is professional and working hard to implement the problem. Also, planning a detailed lesson plan help me as a teacher have a clear plan of what to give the students? And what should I mention? It also helps in managing the class time. Planning a detailed lesson plan will help me in giving the lesson in sequence and with organized ideas. Also, it helps the teachers using the time of the lesson very well, by covering all the important points that should be involved in the class.
